Green Room Consumer · Holiday War Room

Category gift guides open around October 12. Be in front of the editors building them.

Gift guide season is open. Hollis, our AI gift guide booker, finds the editors building this year's holiday and Valentine's lists, checks you have the kit they ask for, and writes a pitch for every slot. You read each one and send it from your own inbox.

Best for physical products that make a good gift, can ship within days and can handle a sales spike.

The season, window by window

Seven windows between now and February 14.

Editors fill gift guides in waves. Miss a window and the next list is already closed. Hollis works each one as it opens, so you pitch the right editor in the right week. Dates are based on when last year's guides opened and closed.

What's in the War Room

Everything gift guide editors ask for, in one room.

1

The editor list

What a list does

Founders on the season a gift list changed.

Not Green Room customers. Founders describing what a gift guide or a holiday list did for their product, in their own words, each with its source.

"We had more orders in one day than we'd had in 6 months."
Kristi Soomer, founder, Encircled, after The Globe and Mail's gift guide. Authority Magazine
"So many people Google 'best alarm clock' and the first hit is the Wirecutter story we've been in for six years. We've never paid for any media."
Matt Hassett, founder, Loftie, on Wirecutter. Shopify
"Being included in a gift guide can be, for us, the gift that keeps on giving year after year after year."
Robin Sloan, co-owner, Fat Gold, on the San Francisco Chronicle's food gift guide, 2024. The San Francisco Standard
"It feels really great, like I've made it after putting in a lot of time."
Jennie Lennick, founder, Jenny Lemons, on landing in gift guides including The New Yorker's and Better Homes & Gardens'. The San Francisco Standard

A list is not automatic. One 2024 gift-list honoree wrote about selling 156 gift sets and overbuying inventory. The War Room gets you in front of the editor with the kit ready; the product, the stock and the shipping are yours.

What you are buying

A pitch like this, for every open slot.

One sample, so you can judge the writing before you pay. The product and the editor are invented; the format, length and the facts-only rule are exactly what Hollis drafts for you.

SubjectFor your under-$50 kitchen guide: a $42 salt cellar that ships in 2 days

Hi Dana,

You included hand-thrown ceramics in last year's under-$50 kitchen guide, so this may fit the 2026 edition: Cellar Co. makes a $42 stoneware salt cellar with a walnut lid, thrown in Asheville, and it ships from stock in two days through December 20.

Three things you usually need: affiliate link is live on Amazon and our site, two cut-out images are attached at 2000px, and a sample can be at your desk by Thursday if you want to handle it.

Founder is Priya Nair, a former line cook. Happy to send the one-sheet or answer anything.

Thanks,
Priya

  • Why this editor. Hollis cites the editor's own past guide, so the pitch reads like a tip, not a blast.
  • Facts only. Every claim comes from your brief: price, where it is made, ship-by date. Nothing is invented for you.
  • The kit, up front. Affiliate link, images, sample offer: the three things editors reply to ask for, already answered.
  • You send it. Edit anything, then send from your own inbox. Replies come to you.
  • Not an AI blast. Editors are tired of generic AI pitches. These are short, cite the editor's own guide, use only your facts, and go out one at a time after you approve each one.

The editor list

What the list looks like inside your room.

A slice of the holiday view. Names and contact details unlock with credits once you are in; the outlets, sections and windows are real.

How it works

Ready by the end of this week.

Get gift-ready

Tick off the kit: affiliate link, two images, price, ship-by dates (take the free check first if you are not sure). Pitch drafting opens once the first four are done, because editors skip products that are missing them.

Pick your categories

Hollis ranks the desk for your product and shows which windows are open this week and which editor fits each one.

Approve and send

Open the editors you want, read each pitch, edit if you like, and send from your own inbox. Log replies and placements as they come in.

What is still open. Holiday print guides closed over the summer. The War Room covers online category guides, deal roundups, last-minute lists, local TV, newsletters and Valentine's, including February print, which is open through mid November.

What we never do. We never send pitches for you and we never guarantee a placement. Placement is the editor's call. We give you the right editor, the right week and a pitch worth reading.

When it ends. Credits and desk access run through February 14. Nothing renews and there is nothing to cancel.

Who is behind it. Hollis is an AI booker. The editor list he works from was built, and is checked every month, by former journalists with experience at The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal, working with startup founders and venture capitalists.

Questions

Before you open the room.

Is Hollis a person?

No. Hollis is an AI booker. He ranks the editor list for your product, writes the pitches and keeps the calendar. The list itself was built and is verified by hand by former journalists, and on the Editor Review tier a former editor reviews and edits your top 10 pitches before you send.

Do I need a Green Room plan?

No. The War Room is a one-time pass and works on its own. If you later want bookers year round, you can move to a plan from your room.

Is it too late for the holidays?

No. Print holiday guides are done, but online category guides open around October 12 (based on last year's guides) and run to mid November, deal roundups run around Black Friday and Cyber Monday, and last-minute lists run into mid December. Valentine's is just getting started.

What kind of products is it for?

Anything someone could give as a gift: beauty, home, kitchen, food and drink, kids, pets, wellness, fashion, jewelry, fragrance, books, subscriptions, experiences. If your product can arrive by December 24 or February 14, it belongs here.

Do I need an affiliate link?

Most shopping editors work on affiliate links, so it is on the checklist. Being on Amazon or enrolled with a network such as ShopMy, Skimlinks, Impact or Awin (formerly ShareASale) covers it. The kit walks you through it.

What happens after I pay?

You set a password and open your room. The War Room tab has the checklist, the editor list and the calendar. Pitch drafting opens as soon as the four checklist items are done, usually the same day.

What if I have a concern after I pay?

Email hello@greenroom.press and a person reads it and replies. The pass is a one-time purchase and is not refundable; if something went wrong with your charge, write within 14 days and we will make it right.

Category guides open around October 12. Be in the room when they do.
